For PREP Candidates

PREP candidates receive robust networking support throughout the Practice Readiness Education Program (PREP). Dedicated resources such as PREP Recess and PREP Connect help candidates build meaningful connections. PREP Recess fosters peer networking, while PREP Connect provides mentorship opportunities with alumni and employers.

What is

PREP Recess?

Since PREP is delivered entirely online, it can be harder to connect with classmates and build professional relationships. PREP Recess is designed to bridge that gap by creating informal networking opportunities for candidates. In the optional program, PREP Recess introduces pairs of candidates every two weeks for a virtual “coffee chat” or quick catch-up. These random pairings mimic the spontaneous “water cooler” conversations that happen in traditional office settings, helping you build friendships and expand your professional network.

Why Participate in PREP Recess?

  • Meet peers from across Canada and share experiences.
  • Networking during PREP can lead to future collaborations and job opportunities.
  • Break up the isolation of online learning with casual, friendly conversations.

If you are interested in signing up for PREP Recess, email student.services@cpled.ca. Please provide your name, city location and email address; this information will be used to assign partners for your bi-weekly meetings.

What is

PREP Connect?

PREP Connect is a mentorship program launched to bridge the gap between education and employment for PREP candidates. It connects candidates with experienced mentors, such as PREP alumni and legal employers, who share insights on the articling process and life in practice.

Why Participate in PREP Connect?

  • Connect with mentors from diverse legal environments, including firms, government, and corporate roles.
  • Learn strategies for job searching, interviewing, and understanding workplace expectations.
  • You set the agenda—focus on the skills and knowledge that matter most to your career goals.

If you are interested in signing up for PREP Connect, email student.services@cpled.ca. Please provide your name, city location and email address.
